Glastonbury in disguise?

It’s raining at the Oval. Apparently they are using the same pitch as the last game v Leics – to be honest a high-scoring, rain affected draw will suit us – and I think so too a win for Worcs v Glams …

PS: Surrey will bat from 2.10pm. That’s 2.5 hours (40 overs) lost I reckon, although if the weather holds they can make up some time this evening.

I have just driven from home in NE Hampshire to work in Harrow and if its as heavy at the Oval as it was on my drive into work then I would be surprised if there is any play today.

Play to get underway at 2.10 so I was wrong. Hopefully that heavy rain was headed elsewhere.

Seems an odd team – five bowlers, two spinners but
no Bates

Brad Taylor in for Michael Bates according to the BBC!

Extra batting needed if we are playing 5 bowlers so makes sense to let Wheater keep this week.

Surrey’s two spinners took loads of wickets in that last match on this pitch so maybe that is why Taylor. In a straight choice in a match of this importance with a number of ‘tail enders’ I reckon Wheater has to get it for his batting – I saw little evidence last week that Taylor will score too many!
