From Hampshire Cricket who “can confirm that leg-spinner Imran Tahir has signed for the Club subject to visa clearance.  The South-African will only be available for Hampshire’s last two LV= County Championship matches against Kent at the Ageas Bowl and Glamorgan at the SWALEC Stadium”.

PS: Thanks to Bob for an update about tomorrow’s side (see Comments: “Who Will Play?). I’m intrigued that last weekend Dale Benkenstein spoke about Basil Akram as the next choice pace bowler if anyone was unfit at Canterbury yet tomorrow Barber is playing and Akram isn’t. Maybe it’s the different format?

Is it another in the squad for experience scenario for Barber?

Carberry captain but Adams still in squad. Is there anything in this or is it just giving Adams an easier day tomorrow?

Good questions Ian but they’ve only named 11 and the bowlers are Wood, Barber, Tomlinson, Coles, Briggs and Dawson. The batters are Adams, Carberry, Wheater, Terry, Gatting (& Dawson). I suspect the captaincy is a rest for Adams but it’s interesting to speculate about next season … I guess they could even use three different captains(?)

Oh I hadn’t counted the squad size so will be first time I have seen Barber.

Although tomorrow is a dead game am hoping to finally see a full 50 over game.

I’d put your money on Will Smith captaining the championship side next year.
