On Twitter, BBC Solent Sport have reported that Gareth Berg, Player of the Year 2015, needs a knee ‘op’ and will be out from between six-12 weeks. Meanwhile, Ryan Stevenson seems to be struggling with his back – at least he did not go to Barbados or play in this week’s game v Kent. Jimmy Adams has his foot in a cast, while Chris Wood might or might not be up to regular four-day games. All of which leaves opportunities for some younger players (Wheal, Crane, Taylor) and maybe a return to the first team for James Tomlinson. It’s not the ideal start though.

Thanks for the medical updates Dave. It will really indicate how successful our Academy has been. Every confidence in the youngsters (and Thommo!!!!) and time for senior players to step up to the plate. Cannot wait. First day’s first-class this year likely to be at Durham v Somerset on 10th April (cannot manage up and down on the day for Warwickshire match then work) then 4 days watching the boys at Headingley.

In Craig de Weymann’s day (apologies for the spelling!) there used to be a page on the Hampshire website called ‘From the Physio’s table’ which gave an update on injuries, and a prognosis. No chance of getting that revived, I suppose?

Woody has not played first team four day cricket for some time due to not recovering from what appears to be a permanent injury. So the reliable Tommo is in for a return to the CC side. Let us hope the Fidel and Ryan (McLaren) stay fit….

I had heard that the injury meant that Woody could not play four day cricket but he seems to have aspirations to do so. Perhaps the long, careful nursing back to health has paid off?

I don’t know about the updates. At present it’s not clear who will be producing the Round Up this season. It’s interesting to consider that while it seems there will be no Hampshire players in the T20 Final, both physios should be ( looks like India to win the SF)
