I’m rather sorry not to get to Hove which I love, but I had a gig this lunchtime and a Bat & Ball lunch tomorrow, so any updates/information gratefully received. Twitter tells me that at lunch Carberry and Alsop are both out in the 30s and Smith and Ervine have just arrived – Hampshire 82-2.

TEA SCORE NOW: 202-4 innings closed (60 overs) – Smith 52*, McManus 16*, Wheater out for a quick 46 (he likes Hove) and Briggs 1-39

Tom Alsop was run out for a duck opening Hampshire’s innings earlier in the week, now he’s done the same to Chris Nash and James Tomlinson has also taken a wicket. Meanwhile Basil Akram really will be back at Hampshire soon if he carries on like this – three wickets v Surrey yesterday and today a maiden first-class century. He played once for us in a 50 over match v Yorkshire in 2014, also quite a few 2nd XI games, but was not retained last September.

Just got back home via the Northern route. Southern route took me the best part of 3 hours to get there from Chandlers Ford, although I did stop at Bosham’s new ground, only to find they haven’t built their new pavilion yet!

Can’t add anything to the above accounts.

Still, I got a snap of the Hove pavilion, David. Just Fenners to go now . .
