On the Board Again

I think you know that one of my jobs is to update the Players’ Board on the Atrium walkway. I didn’t set it up, so I didn’t decide (a) to start from 1895 (rather than 1864) or (b) to include all first-class players, not just those who played in the Championship.

As a consequence all kinds of players who play the occasional game – sometimes just against university sides – are listed. Anyone remember Dominic Clapp, Glen Querl, Tom Parsons (etc)?

According to Twitter tonight, there will be two more to add when the match v Cardiff begins tomorrow: Joe Weatherley, and Hamza Ali who is apparently a trialist. If you ‘Google’ that name, you can find a Pakistan cricketer but I don’t know if he’s the same one. Their numbers will be: Hamza Ali 538, Joe Weatherley 539.

The full side: Alsop, Weatherley, Ervine, McLaren, Wheater, McManus, Wood, Taylor, Wheal, Crane, Hamza Ali

Incidentally the Board is updated each winter. It’s taken a while this year but I think it was being done last week so should be up-to-date until 11 am tomorrow

Forecast looks a bit dodgy first thing, fine on Tuesday and more dodgy on Wednesday.

Hamza Ali appeared for the 2XI twice last season and I believe also for Dorset. Anyway good luck to the guy, and young Weatherley of course.
