in the past eight Championship matches – and that one somewhat undeserved.

‘Tommo’ took just seven wickets in the last 14 Championship matches last year but as the end approaches today, his third wicket brings him to eight already this year in just three innings. Meanwhile the captain has now doubled his wicket haul of 2015.

It turns out Surrey have a fairly full report on their website, so presumably they’ll update it later on.

They’d taken the new ball about 3.25 and brought Dunn back to try to clean up the tail, but made no inroads before I left – I was relying on crichq to let me know if we’d hung on!

Cheers Jeremy. A decent effort in second innings, Stevenson 97 not out but defeat in the end. Good job Paul didnt take that bet!

More on Fidel – broken ankle. The NHS website says: “The prognosis for ankle fractures is good to fair. The recovery time for a broken ankle for most patients is 4-8 weeks for the bones to heal, and several months to regain full range of motion of the ankle joint. Severe fractures such as those requiring surgery will take more time to heal.”
