I’ve been down to Bransbury Park (near Fratton Park) where Trevor McArdle and Simon Young of Cage4All ran a training session for the volunteers at ‘Pompey in the Community’

Pompey Cage

Explaining the scoring – six play and everyone bats, bowls, fields, umpires and scores.

The six ‘trainers’ and their trainer Trevor. They will now organise sessions for various groups around the city, including local boys and girls.

The kit they are using is that which was sponsored through the sales of Forever Changes (presented recently at Fratton Park). It’s a matter of some sadness to me that it seems as though there is more enthusiasm for Cage Cricket at Portsmouth FC than at the Ageas Bowl.

“it seems as though there is more enthusiasm for Cage Cricket at Portsmouth FC than at the Ageas Bowl”.

Is that perhaps because many of those watching Portsmouth FC should be in cages? (Only joking!).

Great stuff Dave! Well done for your great contribution to this valuable addition to the sports activities provided for kids (many of whom are disadvantaged) in inner city Portsmouth.

Where did the Bowl cage go?

I had heard it was being relocated within the ground but that seems less certain now. I believe there is a meeting of some significance fairly soon. If I know more, I’ll let you know.
