Comment by Ian May 19, 2016 @ 12:08 pmA tangentially-related piece of trivia I noticed today – Hampshire are unique among the counties in never having signed an Indian Test player.
Comment by Hedgehog May 19, 2016 @ 12:21 pmI’ve mentioned that a few times although I didn’t know we were the only ones – back in the 19th early 20th centuries we had a number of cricketers born in India but all British Empire chappies
Comment by pompeypop May 19, 2016 @ 12:59 pmHow are you defining a Hampshire player? Played at anytime or concurrently?
Comment by Paul May 19, 2016 @ 12:24 pmA pertinent question from Paul, because Jackson Bird (Hampshire future) dismissed Rangana Herath (Hampshire past) twice in a Test in Sydney in January 2013.
Comment by Hedgehog May 19, 2016 @ 12:34 pmInteresting! I thought you guys might assume it came from watching Herath bowl to Vince this morning but I certainly wasn’t thinking Hampshire “future” – it would at least have to be anyone who does or did (not will) play for the county. I was wondering about the Tremlett/Carberry vs Clarke/Watson etc series but in truth I’ve no idea. I just thought it was worth asking …
Comment by pompeypop May 19, 2016 @ 1:03 pmGood shout on that series in Australia in 2013/14 but the final Hants (past) v Hants (past) confrontation in that series involves none of Tremlett/Carberry/Clarke/ Watson.
It was KP bowling to George Bailey. (And in the last innings, KP was caught by Bailey).
Comment by Hedgehog May 19, 2016 @ 1:31 pmI’m afraid I never regarded Pietersen as a Hampshire player. Just someone who played for himself and very occasionally with ten others playing for Hampshire.
