Hampshire Cricket History

And so it continues …

I’ve seen Darren Sammy bat and bowl for Hampshire. Since he limped off with what seemed like a hamstring injury tonight that might be a claim that some folks will never make. Maybe we need a T-Shirt! It really is unbelievable. This was a tight, exciting match but while Hampshire are ‘off the mark’, by the end they were fielding two subs, with Carberry and Sammy absent. How serious their injuries are, I’ve no idea but …

Meanwhile, Gareth Berg and Ryan Stevenson both played a full part in today’s two games. Two back, two more gone? I guess we’ll know tomorrow. (Below) Shahid Afridi in action:

There’s an interview with Sammy (& Kevan) in which he says he thinks it was just cramp from the cold and not a hamstring. Hear it at:

Wasn’t it just a con, as we were about to give away penalty runs for running out of time!!

That thought crossed my mind as well. I’m sure it was a genuine injury, but it was certainly lucky timing.

Good to see Coles still knows how to close out an innings, although fair play he did take 4 wkts.
My word it was a bit nippy in the upper pavilion

It certainly was, although not as cold as Merchant T’s! Three matches tonight and only Hants won batting first.

It might have been chilly but it left me with a rosy glow.

It was a real team effort tonight, great to see Gareth Berg back & both Darren Sammy & Shahid Afridi performed……nothing particularly outstanding but it was enough for a win.

Last season the white ball stuff turned our season around……..here’s for a bit of “history repeating itself”

& a little ps must go to David Griffiths…….where did that six come from…….pleased to see him playing well though 😊

I mentioned batting first because there is a theory circulating that chasing is becoming increasingly the favoured route – Kent inserted us and probably should have won it.
