Never before in 54 seasons of all the various limited overs competitions and hundreds of matches, have Hampshire failed to defend a total of 310

But to paraphrase Kenneth Wolstenhome: “They have now”.

A shame to finish without the win but it was a great day with plenty of positives & had a couple of umpiring decisions gone the right way it could have been very different. A definite four was given as six & from my position the run out that wasn’t given looked pretty clear too.

But hey ho…….it was fantastic to see Tom Alsop bat so well & had he been completely fit I’m sure we would have scored even more.

The boundary fielding was great & the sun shone……you can’t win them all but if you are in the game until the last over (or two) then you’ve played pretty well in my book.

I thought it was a 6 from my view. Might have won if Westley had stayed in

Giles White in his interview with Kevan James after the game said “we might not have been as good as we could have been right at the end”. No “might” about it for me. Jo’s absolutely right about certain positives and she manages to be more optimistic than me these days, but the thing about so-called ‘white ball cricket’ is that you can’t draw, and we lost.
