At the end of the season in which Gloucs won the epic B&H SF we went to the last day of the final Championship match at Bristol. A determined Hants won relatively easily and denied the home side the title, for whom I think, the wait continues(??).
A good day at the cricket in the sunshine!
Comment by StephenFH June 14, 2016 @ 11:50 amAbsolutely right – very close first innings but then Hampshire won easily. If you accept that the Championship began in 1890 (and not everyone does) then Gloucs have never been Champions – go back further as someone as eminent as Peter Wynee-Thomas does and they did win it in the days of Grace’s dominance.
There must have been a bigger crowd back then than there is today – as the Gloucs commentator said, it’s “paltry”.
Comment by pompeypop June 14, 2016 @ 1:04 pmThe weather looks gloomy in Bristol. We’ve had bright sun in Pompey (but windy) since about 11am. No news on CricHQ still about the 2ndXI – perhaps weathered-off again.
