Last night’s Gloucs v Hants aggregate was 694 but in the 2005 Quarter Final at the Oval, when Hants beat Surrey, it was 717 (also 50 overs).

Vince is back but who misses out? Alsop and McManus both in good nick … will Carberry, Wheater be fit? Hampshire have used 22 players in all competitions this seasons (but what’s happened to Brad Wheal?)

More news later …

I walked away from this thinking I feel very sad for Hampshire right now. All their plans for the season are in tatters. The only silver lining has been the response of Alsop, McManus, Crane in such a difficult season. I hope it bodes well for the future because the present ain’t much of a present.

Poor bowling and very good batting allowed Gloucestershire to set a high target. We did well to get so close and although I’ve got nothing against Mason Crane I think had Best gone in at 10 we might just have got there. Best is far more likely to hit boundaries and that is what we needed. Great knock by Andrew and Dawson now has an average in List A this season (195). A must win today if we are going to make the quarters.

Andrew is looking a better bat than bowler at the moment!
