I’ve checked the forecast and can confirm absolutely no chance of snow in Somerset today.  There could be ice on Glastonbury Tor.

Here’s a funny thing (or two):

Hampshire’s record innings v Somerset in T20 was not scored in either Hampshire or Somerset. In addition, the record number of T20 catches in an innings for Hampshire was not even in England, while second best is held by quite a few catchers including J Vince v Somerset, but again in neither county.

I wish you all a peaceful day, especially if you’re there and C Gayle is batting …

Well I didn’t mention anything about rain of course.

Comment by Dave Allen

Kevan and Adam kept talking about the rain much of the afternoon but it hardly came and certainly Hampshire deserved no help from the weather. At least it looks as though I don’t need to worry about whether to go to a damp Finals Day at Edgbaston to watch them lose the semi final again!

Had it been tighter we would have been at least one, probably two, overs short at the time limit. (By the time limit you have to be in position to bowl over 20 – we certainly wouldn’t have completed 19, probably not 18, possibly not even over 17). We don’t seem to be learning

Dave, I think Hampshire’s best score v Somerset is 216 at Taunton in 2010.

Comment by Tigger

Yes it is Tigger – sorry, I was a bit ambiguous perhaps. I wrote “innings” by which I meant individual innings as opposed to (team) total. The innings I was referring to was 80 by Afridi at Edgbaston on Finals day in 2011 when Vince held three catches.

On a different tack . .

I doubt if there will be much 2nd XI action today, but if you intended going, the game is at Basingstoke.

Thanks, Bob. I did find out about the change in location earlier this afternoon – pity that Hampshire Cricket still do not think it necessary to advise its loyal members of venue changes!

John, the venue was changed on the fixtures page of our “beloved” website a couple of weeks ago but again they let themselves down by not properly notifying us member/supporters by including a separate item on the website.

Is the website not franchised out as this would explain a lot…..

I cannot find any info about the 2nd XI game on CricHQ, so I’m guessing there was no play. It was a foul morning in Pompey but a rather beautiful afternoon evening. Not sure whether the bad weather went northwards?

Incidentally, talking of changed venues, I hear that one of the Vipers matches might be going to Basingstoke too – but not sure.

I did wonder why I hadn’t spotted the 2nd XI game was at Basingstoke which would have been handy for me. Yet again Hampshire Corporate Cricket show zero respect for its members.

If we were re-branded customers or product users instead of members would they take any more interest?

(And do they still think Sean Ervine is a South African?).

Under way at Basingstoke. Jimmy and Joe opening . .
