This will go on the Atrium Members’ Board over the next five days:

I have three of the bats (below) in the Archive – signed by all 13 of our players who won the Championship in 1973, when they attended a special lunch here on the 40th anniversary in 2013.

One of the bats will be retained for the Archive. I am inviting bids for the other two by Silent Auction from today (25 June). It will end with the conclusion of the Championship match v Surrey on 20 July.

The process is straightforward:

There is a RESERVE BID PRICE of £40 on each bat. If that is not reached the item(s) will not be sold.

Any successful bid will be notified immediately and requires the bidder to collect in person, or to arrange for the bat to be delivered as convenient, covering any costs.

Please submit your bid to DAVE ALLEN at the Atrium Reception in a sealed envelope  and with your name, address and if possible, ‘phone number and/or email address. If you are posting it, the address is Botley Road, West End, Southampton, SO30 3XH.

I will not open any submitted bids until that final day (the time depends on the progress of the match) so I cannot enter into any discussions about bids. The Auction will be advertised also on the Hampshire Cricket History Blog.

Payment must be by cash, or cheque payable to Hampshire Cricket Heritage. I do not have credit card methods of payment. All proceeds will contribute to projects such as the new Women’s Exhibition or purchases for the Archive
