Liam Dawson & James Vince will both play for England in tomorrow’s T20 at the Ageas Bowl.

PS It’s a record: 472-9 dec. is Hants’ highest innings score without a single century

Well done to both

Great news, good luck to both

When was the last time 2 Hampshire Players played together in an England side ?

Comment by John F

Probably KP & Chris Tremlett (in 2007?). Can’t recall when they left us. Let’s hope these two tomorrow don’t both disappear to Surrey!

Now, now Mr Allen…..don’t make me bring out my anti-pessimism lecture again! & to be honest I think most of us were probably very happy about one of those movements East!!

I am really excited to see them both playing in England colours at home but especially Liam.

Well I was unhappy about the movement East Jo. I was hoping for about five miles south!

Comment by James

One of our Stewards (no longer working at the Bowl, he spoke his mind) had a bet that Liam would play for England, which I think he struck around 2006.

I seem to remember the Bloodsuckers only gave him about 15/1, but he took it. From memory, it was for an ODI, so perhaps they’ll refuse to cough up – but I’m hoping for him!

I think it’s brilliant that Liam is playing tomorrow – he is Hampshire’s best white ball cricketer and one of my favourite Hampshire players. But what happens if we continue to dominate in Durham? Will he return automatically next Sunday? Good result at Guildford today but this is a very tough division this year.

Any news of Reece Topley and when he might be back?

Comment by Ageas

No idea – I think originally they said mid-August …

Comment by pompeypop

Coincidentally met Reece today. He’ll be batting next week for the seconds but not bowling. Apparently there’s a tussle between Hampshire and the ECB. Hampshire would like him playing sooner rather than later, ECB would like a longer rest to conserve his energies for a long winter of internationals through to the Champions Trophy next year

Comment by Ageas

Bearing in mind he hardly seems to know which end of the bat to use this is unlikely to strengthen our 2nd XI batting!

Nice to see him back though even if the ECB naturally continue to act against the best interests of the county game.

I guess they had to give Buttler MOM, but Liam sure ran him close . . .!!

James must be kicking himself.
