Oh boy …

Unless Surrey suffer an horrendous collapse this afternoon, they will take ten points from the game v Yorkshire and leap-frog Hampshire who will return to the foot of the table, albeit with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, even if Hampshire beat second-place Glamorgan this evening they will remain in bottom place in the T20. It seems they will give youth its chance again (no Adams, Smith, Carberry, Berg etc).

Ryan McLaren is not on the card for today but he is on the ground and he is bowling on a practice strip. Sunday?

No Tino in the XI

The match is about to start but I have just heard the terrible news about Michael Carberry. It’s been an awful I season for Hampshire and this is very sad. It puts everything else in perspective doesn’t it? Bottom of the table, relegation, whatever. Good luck ‘Carbs’ – think of him at his sparkling best and picture him back soon.

How sad for him, hope he beats it

Just heard David Gower announce the shocking news after the test. Carbs is a fighter so let`s hope he can pull through yet another challenge, although I`m not too sure about his returning to hit sixes. I`ll be happy just to see him return !

Such terrible news. Thoughts are with you Carbs.

Last time he returned after serious illness he scored a triple century which I was privileged to see. I’ll be here along with thousands of others willing him back to health and many more runs.
