So I’m stood there at 11am wondering why on earth Surrey opened with Dominic Sibley. I decided to take a photo of the day’s first ball so the Good News (???) is I have a photo of another wicket! Blimey. That’s the end of the third highest stand of the innings …

Yesterday while going home from the match I questioned the relevance of the road sign that points the way to the Rose Bowl. It is a set of stumps being skittled by a ball.

However the way Hampshire are starting, the symbol does perhaps make sense.

Also at least since Sunday morning, maybe before, there has been an advert outside for the next match – Middlesex in the T20 on Friday. Championship? What’s that then?

Sibley, having taken one first-class wicket before today has now taken two in the first fifteen minutes and Hampshire are looking solidly Third Division!

Pretty sure I’ve seen Michael Bates sitting on the bench outside the Hampshire dressing room in conversation with Mssrs Adams & Wheater.
