(it’s another Howlin’ Wolf song)

Wooden Spoons.jpg

John (West) suggested this one. As it stands, tonight we would have to lose very heavily to Sussex to take last place on run-rate (with two to play) although we would then be level on points. As far as I can work out from run-rate it’s loser-takes-all on Friday. Tie, rain or win for Hampshire and we finish next-to-last. Win for Somerset and we’re last. In the Championship who knows? A 24-point win in our game in hand (indeed a more modest points victory) will get us off the foot of the table.

Why is it called the wooden spoon? They’re very useful for things like porridge, rice etc …

Bearing in mind in the last two non-T20 games at the Rose Bowl we have seen the opposition put on double century stands for the opening wicket without ever looking in any danger it makes you wonder exactly what Tino or Tommo have to do to get a game doesn’t it?

Pleased to see Crane has been taken out of the firing line today. He desperately needs a break in my opinion.
