I’m So Glad

(A cover of an old blues by Clapton’s Cream)

Why? Because I wasn’t around at the Close of Play to answer the question: When did a Hampshire opening batsman bat all day, through a full day, to end on 99*

The answer is I’ve no idea (and I’m not looking!)

I only watched until lunchtime. Was it a good day? I think it probably was but perhaps not quite a very good day? Can we get more than three batting points tomorrow? Surrey with whom we’re competing, lost far more wickets, but scored 108 more runs. Initially, the Somerset score was encouraging but now they’ve taken lots of wickets too.

Meanwhile, and more importantly, Michael Carberry has an operation tomorrow – best wishes from everyone

Fidel Edwards is making good progress and might play this season …

After today’s Service for Neil Jenkinson we all retired to the Community Centre in Littleton, Winchester for the reception. Delightfully it’s on the edge of Littleton CC. I took this photo at about the time it was raining at the Ageas Bowl (raining? it really is the most rain-blighted place in the county!)

I guess Bob knows this place …

Yes, it is the Littleton pavilion, as you say. Unusual feature is that the dressing room is in the loft, via the steps on the right-hand side.

I wonder if anyone can explain the strange situation with the car park for championship cricket.
Today and on other occasions the car park is full to the gills. And yet the ground appears to have less people than cars. Well it seems like that.

I have thought the same on several occasions this season Paul!

On a separate matter has anyone any idea who was playing on the Nursery ground today (and yesterday)?

Good to see our three batsmen batting sensibly on what looked a true but slow pitch but I’m not sure how we are going to get ten Lancashire wickets let alone twenty.

I think they might be people who work in the hospital across the road. They certainly park there on non-match days. There’s lots of building work happening and I think they’ve lost their car park.

I think it was the UAE, I will ask again tomorrow . .

Thanks Bob. It looked like a touring team.

Been wondering if there was any news on Michael……fingers crossed everything goes well for him tomorrow.

Here’s hoping the team can put together a win this weekend for him.
