This came from the Lew Harfield collection given to me recently

Hampshire 1931.jpg

It’s Hampshire v Warwickshire at Edgbaston 1931.

(Back) Jim Bailey, Len Creese, ‘Lofty’ Herman, George Brown, Lew Harfield, John Arnold

(Front) Phil Mead, Sam Pothecary, Stephen Fry, Alec Kennedy (with ‘fag’), Stuart Boyes

The first day was rained off, then Hants 305 (Mead 93, Bailey 69, Brown 51, Paine 7-130) drew with Warwickshire 194-5. There was more rain on the third day.

Stephen Fry, son of CB, was making his final first-class appearance and captained Hampshire in the absence of Lionel Tennyson
