Sometime ago there was a list of the likely grounds to be used for franchise cricket, namely, Headingley, Old Trafford, Edgbaston, Trent Bridge, Cardiff, Bristol, Oval and Lords.

So if this list comes to fruition what is Mr. Bransgrove going to do…..

Maybe a nest of Vipers? The justification for including Bristol and excluding Ageas Bowl is I guess, the matter of the city-base. Perhaps we could move to Southampton?

The following is a BBC news item from 15th March 2016:

“Residents will go to the polls in May 2017 to choose a single mayor for the whole Solent region, including Southampton, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight”

As mayors are usually city based, we need a city name to cover this area. Suggestions: Southmouth? no, seems too verbose. Porthampton? better, but how about SPORTLAND. (That is S for Southampton, Port for Portsmouth and Land for the IsLAND.)

Any candidates for the Mayor of Sportland?

Are you thinking about someone whose initials are the same as the Rose Bowl….

I’m not sure Rory Bremner would be interested!

Given the Olympics stuff perhaps he means Roger Black?

Talking of Vipers, the Southern Vioers have won the KIA super league this afternoon at Chelmsford. Well done to all involved, one trophy at the Ageas Bowl!
