On SkyTV today – but only one crowd

T20 Finals Day

South Africa v New Zealand Test Match

(Guess which)

Interesting to read that the Vipers opening match at the Ageas Bowl, which attracted 2,000+, was the biggest crowd in the women’s competition this year (so far – Finals tomorrow). I didn’t go so I’m not sure – was there a charge, or was it free?

I’m getting worried for Jo. After 14 balls, Northants have contrived a silly run out, a catch from what the umpire was about to signal a leg-side wide, and lbw from a straight full toss. Notts have set three slips! (NB it’s 11.42 not 10.42)

No Tahir for Notts

Comment by Paul

Thanks Paul.Too many overseas at Notts, including two ‘Hampshires’: Christian (captain), Russell* and IT.

Incidentally, about 50 minutes later, Ben Duckett is looking superb and certainly making a game of it …

*And Russell is now injured while fielding. I seem to recall a Caribbean player jetting in for a losing semifinal at the Rose Bowl in 2010 …

No need to worry for me Dave……

My adopted team are looking great now though……& as a club Northants definitely need this more than Notts so fingers crossed they get over the line 😊

Yes I agree Jo – I’d be pleased to see Northants go through and maybe win for that reason – and with Russell just dismissed they are looking OK. Lots of ‘Hampshires’ in this game and ‘super’ (!) Rory has just pounced,

£5 per head, free for members not sure about juniors

Comment by Paul

Cheers

Comment by pompeypop

First game was £3 for adults (members free) but this was also the entrance fee to a “table-top” sale which clearly brought in lots of people, some of whom would have stayed for the cricket. It is a shame that Hampshire Cricket Big-Wigs again forgot that they had MEMBERS – because there was no notification to us about the sale, either by email or on the website. The hierarchy also lied, yes LIED, by giving members false information about gate opening times!

Juniors were £1 for the first match & £3 for the second two. The prices were definitely encouraging for families & plenty of them came

Comment by joster69

Sorry, Jo, juniors were free for match 1 and £1 for matches 2 & 3 (according to Hampshire Cricket web site)

The rules were changed as a consequence

Which “rules” Paul? Lots of Comments on other comments here …

About jetting in overseas players for finals day

Comment by Paul

Ah … Cheers Paul. I guess he qualified today by playing for them previously this season.

No fighting guys! Northants do have an ex-Hants man, there again he was rubbish!

Comment by pompeypop

Comment by Paul
