That nasty Patterson bloke threw the ball and hit Tom Alsop

Over the way, the Academy finished their season (in the rain) against Ventnor – who are relegated. After this heave for four, the bowler departed with what looked like a combination of hurt pride and a side strain

But who’s that tall chap at the non-striker’s end?

I think it is, you know

That’s All Folks!

(Incidentally extremely obscure song title this morning – from Jefferson Airplane’s psychedelic peculiarity After Bathing at Baxters. Photographer Neil Marshall is working on some good Northern Soul offerings)

I think people sometimes wonder about my Pompey weather stories. If you look at the results in the top two divisions of the Southern League yesterday they were all abandoned except for Portsmouth (who lost). In Div Two only Hambledon played.

Incidentally Div Two is of course the Third Division

I gather Portsmouth lost to Alton who bowled the home side out for 93 and raced to a seven wicket win as the rain started. The win (and all the other abandoned games) means Alton are promoted by 0.02 points! (The league positions being determined by average points).

I bet Alton were glad about Portsmouth’s micro-climate!
