A so-so day at the Oval, while odd things have been happening with Somerset and Middlesex (9-3!). Mind you Notts are surely irrelevant to us now; if they go above us, we’re stuffed. Yorkshire are well ahead of Durham – and we’re again the only match that’s lost time, 16 overs.

So we were the only match that lost overs again?

All together now …

Craig (not Giles) White comments on BBC that he’s disappointed that we didn’t bowl as well as we could. I wonder. Maybe that is how well we bowl, which is why we are where we are.

So are you hoping that people get ready to prove that we’re a winner. And if we lose an get relegated? Well it’s alright and I’m sure that we will discuss it over the long, long winter. Hopefully next season we’ll be in a position to move on up.

Very good Neil! Amen to that

Man oh man we are getting good at this

Bad light amidst the floodlight illuminations.

Liam Dawson stuck at it and did get at the batsmen, but some of the other spells needed to ask more questions.

Well our bowling attack today consisted of a veteran opening bowler who practically never opened the bowling when he was in his prime at his former county, an injury plagued change bowler who couldn’t get a contract anywhere at the start of the season, a former all-rounder who is all but a batsman nowadays, a spinner who regards himself as primarily a batsman, a very very occasional spinner and a kid learning the game as well as Ryan McLaren so perhaps Craig White is expecting a bit too much?

Comment by James

Possibly. Of course we might have hoped some months ago that our attack might include Edwards, Topley plus perhaps, Crane, Stevenson, Wood – even maybe ‘Tommo’.

Comment by Dave Allen

Absolutely which is why I think our coach is expecting too much.
