(Small Faces “Lazy Sunday”)

So, rewind about 10 hours. Imagine you’re writing down the close of play scores for Hampshire and at Edgbaston – they wouldn’t be much different from this evening’s reality, despite the fact that one or two of our batters did more to lose wickets than the Durham bowlers managed. A very satisfactory day, and let’s hope for more tomorrow.

Best buddies at tea – maybe not quite so cheery a little while after the break! Vince batted superbly and from my position, I couldn’t tell about the run out. My Hospital Radio pals reckoned it was a dodgy call. Still, James passed 7,000 career runs and Sean 1,000 Championship runs for the season today.

No luck for Stokes as a bowler today, Jimmy Adams acknowledges applause for his fifty – and Will Smith (hidden) batted very well at a good tempo.

So with Warwickshire getting just one batting point they can only get four points from the game if they lose. If that happens we could draw our game and finish above them if we get the final batting point and maximum bowling points.

A couple of frustrating wickets but overall a lovely (if a little chilly) day. Some positive batting, impressive speed between the wickets from Will Smith & more than 96 overs. Plenty of reasons to smile…….three more days like today please 😊

I am feeling outrageously cheerful. Is there something I can take for it?
