Alex Hales’ decision not to tour Bangladesh has given James Vince another chance to establish himself in international cricket – and if he makes it in ODIs, there might be another chance in the Test arena. That probably means he has to seize the chance in these three ODIs v Bangladesh, but with two gone he’s not yet done that. After yesterday’s dismissal (for five), his three career ODI innings (four matches) have produced 72 runs (average 24.00) to go with 212 runs at 19.27 in 11 Test innings.

At present, his best performances have been in IT20s with 163 runs at 32.60 but in 19 international innings so far he has just one half-century – 51 in his first ODI innings. He needs a good score and a good performance on Wednesday. Meanwhile it seems that Liam Dawson will be sitting on the bench again.

Good luck JV – It’s interesting to be writing about cricket matches!
