Best Chance?

I’ve been watching the Test for about an hour and England have done pretty well. At this point they need one run to save the follow-on but I’m wondering whether their best chance in this game is now to lose two-in-two, follow-on

Hah! As I’m typing, Broad is out lbw and there are no reviews left because Ansari called one that pitched straight, hit straight and was hitting middle stump halfway up.

Anyway, follow-on 200 behind, bat nicely second innings to at least 400 and get at India on a pitch with dodgy bounce on day five. As it stands, even if England save the follow-on, India can set them about 400 in four sessions which looks dodgy

Right, here’s Anderson’s first ball

Unbelievable!* I promise you I’m doing this in real time, honestly

Two-in-two, will they enforce the follow-on? The pundits say no, in which case it’s difficult to see England escaping

(*Chris Kamara was a Pompey player you know)

India batting again.

Kamara was also a very good Brentford player!

Incredible! He was in the Army too – but he’s bonkers. Safe in his hands? Doubtful

Wasn’t it the navy leaving to sign for Portsmouth? Bonkers now I know but he was an top-class midfielder at Brentford making more league appearances for them than anyone else.

I thought that this was a cricket blog!

Cricket and Pompey, John …

Oops, sorry Dave, but I have never heard of that bloke Kamara, so cannot figure out what the link is with the cricket test match.

John makes a reasonable point – he’s nowadays a TV football pundit who is ‘famous’ for almost always saying “unbelievable” to the extent that he even has his own TV adverts where he says it lots of times. So when I said ” “unbelievable” …

Mind you, it’s approaching half-time on Saturday afternoon, he’s just been on and guess what? He didn’t say it.
