Cricket at the Olympics

Well not quite, but the main story in the Guardian’s sports section today is that the ECB plans to use the Olympic stadium, (the one where West Ham’s supporters fight anyone available), as one of the grounds in the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

They will probably need drop-in pitches, there are doubts about boundary sizes and some counties are anxious that this will mean fewer matches to go around the county grounds than they had hoped. The ECB reckon a match like India v Pakistan might sell 60,000 tickets.

PS: It’s on the BBC site now, as well: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/38228798

Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the ECB’s world

or will they be charging India test match prices?

Baseball will be in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. So Clarke’s shortsighted stupid greed has destroyed that opportunity for Cricket to grow.
