Alsop entered in a crisis and, touch wood, going OK

Tom going well and justifying selectors faith . . .

Mason too. Not out batting, and 2 more wickets in what looks like will be a winning start tomorrow.

Tom Alsop 96 – unlucky but great to see – his partnership of 200 with Bell-Drummond rescued England A and took them to a rare victory

Hampshire Cricket website today has the Barbados tour party. which Includes . . . Adam Wheater . . . ????

Comment by Bob Elliott

Not any more. Full squad is Hampshire squad for pre-season tour to Barbados: Kyle Abbott, Jimmy Adams, Tom Alsop, Gareth Berg, Michael Carberry, Mason Crane, Fidel Edwards, Sean Ervine, Asher Hart, Lewis McManus, Will Smith, Ryan Stevenson, Brad Taylor, Reece Topley, Joe Weatherley, Brad Wheal, Chris Wood. Great to see Carbs in the squad.

Don’t think Crane is going either. Isn’t he going to Dubai for the South v North game?

Comment by Bob Elliott

I’m just surprised that the list of returning bowlers doesn’t include Shack!

17 players to the West Indies then, but interestingly neither the captain, nor Liam Dawson included. I guess Liam needs a rest after all his cricket for England recently – and he’d have to fly from … er … Barbados to … er ….

Meanwhile if Adam Wheater is not going (!!) who covers an injury to McManus? My bet’s on Fidel …

I suppose the real answer will be Tom Alsop, but where’s that other South African (Rossuw) – and Brad Taylor, once the youngest ever Hampshire player in all three competitions, but now?

Comment by pompeypop

Brad’s in the list, Dave. Reserve stumper Alsop or Smith? Vince, Dawson, Crane, and Alsop are all in the south v north squad, so it’s odd Crane and Alsop are in Barbados but Vince and Dawson not.

Comment by Bob Elliott

Thanks Bob – sorry, missed Taylor. So four Hampshire-born players!
