Hampshire back in the Aussie side today and Mr Maxwell giving excellent support to his captain

Meanwhile the BBC reports that “Shashank Manohar, the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has stepped down after eight months in the role” citing personal reasons. The Guardian today, however, says he was frustrated in his efforts to reduce the power of the Big Three (India, Australia and England) with a vote going against his wishes

There’s also a possibility that one of the architects of that project, the very lovely Giles Clarke, might take over. Bring on the Brave New World.

There is quite a bit more about the story in Michael Atherton’s column in today’s Times. He describes the “behind-closed-door dealings, lack of transparency and constant merry-go-round … of administrators” at the ICC. He adds “the danger” of the resignation “is a return to more politicking”. It makes the ECB appear ‘Arthurian’ in its procedures. (King Arthur that is, not Shrewsbury)
