Thanks to John West for sending this link. Interested in where the county game is going? (of course you are):

Well I suppose it’s good that he has finally woke up to what an absurd gamble this is, by a hopeless bunch of chancers with no track record of success at anything remotely like this. The sheer scale of their delusion is remarkable.

Robin Marlar had a letter in yesterday’s Times: “Make no mistake, the ECB’s meeting on March 27 will prove to be the day on which County Cricket was murdered… The ECB has bribed and bullied the county turkey’s into voting for Christmas”.

The tv revenues are doubtless justified in part by the potential global audience, some out of season interest for where the 8 team format is familiar and people play the game a lot.

The ECB doing their bit for the game in Australia and India.

Jason Ratcliffe is spot on. I can’t believe that a Business Plan(if it exists) is based on a tv deal which has yet to be negotiated. It has no credibility at all. But we live in a post truth world where decisions are not evidence based, and based on hearsay, supposition, perception etc. Regrettably, the whole issue is a reflection of the Society in which we live. So sad.

Today’s Cricket Paper reports that on Monday the ECB is going to vote on the constitutional change that will allow them to organise competitions that do not include all 18 counties.

“Interested in where the county game is going?”

I was expecting the link to provide a picture of a toilet.

With the faces of Graves & Clarke alternating on the accompanying toilet roll.

Talking of bad news it seems our official overseas player will already miss over 20% of the Championship season:

Captain of the Championship side, and he misses the first 3 games!

And on the same day, the club announces he will captain the Championship side!

Comment by Dave Allen

From Hampshire: “Vince, who was appointed Hampshire captain in 2015, will remain as club captain and continue to lead the side in limited-overs fixtures, covering both the Royal London One-Day Cup and the NatWest T20 Blast competitions.

Bailey, who returned to Hampshire on a two-year deal this off-season following a previous stint at the Ageas Bowl in 2013, will captain the side in this year’s Specsavers County Championship campaign.”
