No sorry, meant to say – who will play?

There’s a two-day 2nd XI game starting on the main ground today (v Lancs)

That team will give some idea of who might play at Headingley

I was thinking it’s not Fidel’s favourite ground. I saw him two years ago, make his debut for us there – he made Tino look a world-beater. Then last year he was injured playing against Leeds Utd. Will he even make it this year?

I won’t play but I will be making my Headingley debut. Do they allow spectators on the field during lunch? And are visiting members welcome in the pavilion?

1. Cannot remember – sorry
2. Yes absolutely, and I have to say, despite popular myths, I find the Yorkies quite delightful

First news then: Hampshire in the field and Stevenson and Topley opened the bowling so they’re not on their way to Headingley. I can’t see the full XI on CricHQ right now …

Next news: Topley has a wicket (lbw), McCoy and Wood are bowling now. Presumably Dickinson is keeping wicket, if so, six names to go.

Squad for Yorkshire
Hampshire (from): Adams, Carberry, Rossouw, Vince, Ervine, Dawson, McManus, Berg, Abbott, Wheal, Crane, Edwards.

Fidel subject to fitness test tomorrow.

Strong second XI – all Hampshire contracted or scholarship. Alsop, Duggan, Smith (C), Goodwin, Dickinson (WK), Wood, Stevenson, Taylor, Hart, Topley, McCoy, Hay.

John,
When is Taylor’s contract/scholarship due to expire? There has been no news of this (or Ervine and Adams) since their last contracts expired in 2016.

According to the HCCC website “New signings Kyle Abbott and Rilee Rossouw are set make their first-class debuts for Hampshire”. Who was the guy who played for us in 2014, Abbott’s twin brother?

Thanks for all that info while I’ve been ‘away’ – Interesting that they’re taking 12 to Headingley, with one subject to a fitness test. So when one other injures himself playing football in the warm-up …

13 taken, Hart not playing at the Bowl so we presume he went to Headingly as cover for Edwards.

Thanks John

BBC reports “Reece Topley, is continuing to build his fitness after several injury setbacks over the past year” Meanwhile Simon Kerrigan (ex-England) is bowling to Tom Alsop (England A) in a 2nd XI game.
