Did we sign the wrong South Africans? There’s a bloke playing for Northants who started the season with 3-35 and 71*. He looks promising.

I witnessed that Dave. It was a very strange decision by Rudolph to bat first but Kleinveldt did bowl tidily. As for his 71 not out Glamorgan decided the best tactic was to try and bounce him out and the further he hit them the more convinced they were that this was the best tactic ……. and the further he hit them, This resulted in a 23 ball fifty. They then brought on a part-time spinner and a seamer with a brain and contained him.

I think it’s a fair early season bet that Glamorgan won’t be promotion contenders.

I saw Kevin Shine employ that tactic once against Alan Lamb at Bournemouth. Lamb got a hundred and Shine became England’s bowling coach …
