Modesty prevents me from putting my name forward of course, but I’ll shall be out-and-about over the next two days (and Tuesday) singing to the crowds in Pompey, who are likely to turn out in their … oh, I don’t know, tens maybe

As a consequence there won’t be much during the day from me on here, so this is Saturday’s post if you wish to continue to add all those very helpful comments about today’s play. If you’re there, I hope you enjoy it.

PS – Good start!

I’ve just noticed that the Middlesex 8th wicket pair both have first-class centuries.

Last 3 wkts went in a flurry 356ao.
Rather chilly here.
Strange that the board advertising forthcoming events is all about Beefys. Simply wouldn’t do to mention the visit of the champions or FCC!

Not at The Rose Bowl today but according to the commentators at Durham v Notts (via twitter) there was a distraction this morning when the Manchester City squad trained on the Nursery Ground ahead of this evening’s match at Southampton. It wasn’t mentioned if Fidel joined them.

Any news of Fidel or Rossouw’s injuries?

Comment by James

The father of one of our players told me that Rossouw will be out for six weeks (although he might bat in this game, if required). That will solve the Bailey ‘problem’ when he arrives to captain the side (who would be dropped? . . . ).

Thanks again Bob. They should employ you on the official website to tell us what is going on!

Two more injuries today to add to Edwards and Roussow, Carberry’s initially looked ominous through the obvious pain and necessary lengthy treatment but happily he was able to continue. It was as a result of a bizarre collision with Roland-Jones. Later Abbott too gave cause for concern and needed treatment for hand injury. He batted on but we will wait to see if he can still bowl.

So maybe it’s not 2016 again but simply a continuation of 2016. I’m not sure about Carberry but it looks almost like the cricket Gods are punishing them for signing all these foreigners. If they’re not careful, they’ll have to start picking players they’ve brought through the Academy.
