Confident that is.

The BBC site says “Hampshire will be confident of forcing a result on the final day”.

I’m imagining that the response at lunchtime is “not very”? is it all down to Abbott?

Or maybe the new ball, around 2.45?

Sorry, meant 2.15 – and yes; Abbott and the New Ball!

213-6 at around 2.30pm and allowing for change of innings that’s probably about halfway through the day, which began in the 40th over – especially given that Middlesex will bowl seamers, none too rapidly. Hampshire will be chasing well over 100 at more than three an over, possibly quite a few more, at quite a lot more.

Just after 3pm and the rate rising to 4+ per over. Is there a point when Middlesex will have some hopes of winning?

Comment by pompeypop

Near tea after the extra 30 mins, the rate is now approaching 10 runs per over and it feels at a distance as though both sides are resigned to the draw?

Feels like an early finish (?) albeit somewhat inevitable. I hope you will forgive ‘Pompey Pop’ for gently celebrating our promotion! A good day by the seaside …
