to entertain my public (they’ve both promised to turn up) so I’ll miss the end. Hampshire will have to make a real mess of this not to win now but the really good news – the performances of Mason Crane and Tom Alsop! I believe they’re both English and indeed Hampshire products.

A good win. Has anyone found anything on today’s 2nd XI match against Sussex?

Hants 288-7
Sussex 289-3
Barrett got 109 and Hay 75 for us.
D Griffiths bowled for us and shown as Captain on the CricInfo scorecard…interesting…

Isn’t it a 3-day game? I can’t find that link on cricinfo, John.

Of course, thanks Jeremy and John. SET = 1-day. Got it all now. Interesting about Griff. He’s with Basingstoke now.

Yes good to see both the youngsters doing well.

Alsop did have a wretched time during the winter right up to the start of the season so a few weeks rest out of the firing line might not have been too bad a thing.

Hardly a familiar name in that 2nd XI game on either side but I’m assuming Stevenson is another injury to add to Edwards, Wheal and Wood. That’s more injured pace bowlers in April than Hampshire used throughout 1961!
