Ahead of today’s match

Only two Hampshire players who have been dismissed in List A this season have so far failed to reach double figures: Mason Crane was out for three in his only innings so far (Essex) and Michael Carberry with scores of 0, 0 and 9.

The spinners have done well. Liam Dawson has bowled his full complement and has the best economy rate – 30 overs: 4-129 (ER 4.3) while Mason Crane has bowled 29 overs, taking 6-165 (ER 5.7). Reece Topley has most wickets, but has been more expensive – 27.4 overs 8-192 (ER 7.01).

PS My walk to the ‘paper shop and back suggests another day to wrap up well – a shame after yesterday when I watched without a jacket for much of the afternoon. Meanwhile commiserations to Aldershot FC (who incidentally warranted more column inches in the Observer than Pompey …)

PPS ‘Carbs’ pays the price (I assume) and HAMPSHIRE-BORN Jimmy Adams returns – albeit listed at number 11 by Cricinfo!
