Not for Michael Carberry, who is not in the squad for tomorrow at Taunton, as Rossouw returns – if he plays who will they drop?

In addition, Fidel Edwards is included along with Topley and Abbott. Same question …

My bet is Vince and Alsop to open with Rossouw at 3 or if Vince prefers 3 then Rossouw to open with Alsop. Adams to miss out.

As for the bowlers I suspect if Edwards plays, Abbott will be rested but I would keep Abbott so Fidel to miss out.

Topley beginning to get into a rhythm and offers something different with left arm bowling. Would be a poor move if they leave out Crane although I expect him to play.

2nd XI update: Holland having taken a ‘five-for’ and scored a century, then took the first Essex wicket after Hants declared nine down and 55 behind. Essex now 121-3 are 176 ahead, with a second wicket for Holland and one for Hart.

I agree with Ron that Adams and Abbott will probably miss out.
Of course if we wanted to play the extra batsmen or bowler, Alsop could keep wicket …..opens can of worms 🙂

You’re getting into dangerous territory Nick – protests in the streets! – although I heard pre-season Tom has no intention of returning to the big gloves

Wheater minute, you can’t say that!

There could be a good finish in the 2nd XI game tomorrow. Brad Taylor took three cheap wickets late on and Holland has three also. Essex are 185-8, 240 ahead.
