Dickinson is the ‘keeper and McManus is doing OK. Holland for Ervine as the all-rounder must come into the reckoning. And Smith for most of them . . .

McManus is indeed doing OK Bob. From that debut at Headingley a couple of years back he’s always seemed to me to be a guy with a big heart. I like them – I reckon Abbott is much the same.

Cow’s turd on the menu at Beefys! Sorry curd, misheard my wife.

Throughout April and early May, the advertising board at the entrance to Marshall Way made no mention of the upcoming fixtures of the Yorkshire and Middlesex matches, not the RL 50 games. It merely told passers by that Beefys was open.

Or save yourself the trouble… all the detail is sealed, as always happens when there’s good news it’s important to keep from those bearing the risk!

I was with the CEO of Eastleigh CC last Wednesday at another venue and for other reasons not connected to cricket. He said the cricket income only accounted for 8% of the overall at the Ageas Bowl venue. However the Cricket made it an icon venue so was vitally important.

If you click on Hampshire plc’s website you get a menu of four main items. The first is cricket, the next is the hotel – with a separate menu in that for ‘Beefy’s’. So why is Beefy’s one of the two lead stories under cricket?
