That all those people who believe that the only future for cricket is through T20 have been paying attention to what’s been going on in Taunton and at the Ageas Bowl today.

With luck we might get another intriguing day in Somerset tomorrow

The ECB accounts for up to January were made public this week. A big loss on the year (£37mn) and the reserves halved, explanation for which being (almost £ for £) a big increase in the payouts to the FCC and the minor counties. It looks like they took something home in exchange for 2020!

Many thanks Stephen. I wonder what proportion of the dosh that arrived in Eastleigh has gone on contracts for foreign players? (I’m not holding my breath for an answer)

Some of the money should pay for a new scoreboard. One that works, and can be read. That was very poor yesterday, but the game was terrific. I’ve got it wrong twice recently. First I said Glamorgan couldn’t possibly win against Hampshire, and yesterday I couldn’t see South Africa failing to chase down that total with five wickets remaining – Mark Wood’s last over was sensational, so don’t gamble on any predictions I make!
