Hampshire Cricket History

Not long ago Hampshire topped their T20 group and a couple of days ago they were third. After last night’s games they are seventh and if Sussex win their game in hand that would probably be eighth. They need to start winning, but the forecast for Bristol tonight is horrid.

Meanwhile, will Liam be released by England? If so who will he replace? Will he offer a sixth bowling option, or replace a bowler? If he’s there, I suppose Crane and Alsop drop further down the pecking order.

In yesterday’s Times, Michael Atherton wrote in praise of the Oval as a “great Test venue”. He also said this:

“A ground must be connected to the community. My least favourite English Test grounds are Hampshire’s Ageas Bowl and the Emirates Riverside in Durham, new builds and impressive in their way, but distant and disconnected from the hustle and bustle of life.”

Liam is in a squad of 16 named yesterday so who plays or not will be fun to see….dare the Whites to drop some old favourites.
Wood also in squad but will he bowl quick or spin.
