Going, going …

There’s an interesting story on BBC’s website about Dominic Sibley being the latest young player to move to Warwickshire at the end of the season. Warwickshire seem intent on signing a brand new XI and Alec Stewart sounds as upset as he can be, saying Surrey have done their best to keep him. I guess that includes signing Stoneman, Borthwick, Sangakkara and KP for various competitions.

What is interesting I found about this is the statement from Surrey. It mentions that Sibley has been given written assurances he will bat in the top three for all three formats.

Now Sibley or Surrey could be mistaken but it’s possible that this does happen when signing players.

That is VERY interesting isn’t it Ian? But what happens if he is in poor form?

One quote has Alec Stewart referring to assurances for next year which could be read as them only applying to the first year of his contract.

I wonder if this has become public because of the relatively young age of the player involved.
