We’re Through!

You might not find this claim anywhere else yet and by all means check me and tell me if I’m wrong

Just back from a delightful sunny Sunday to find the results and I’m sure that if any level points is resolved on run-rate we are through

We have 15 points and can still reach 17

Four teams can overhaul our current 15: Glams (max 18), Gloucs (16), Essex (16) and Surrey (16)

HOWEVER: Surrey play Gloucs this week so one of those teams can only get 14, OR both can get 15 (tie/abandoned) but with hugely inferior run-rates

So, Now We’re Through

(It’s an obscure but rather good 1960s single by Scottish band the Poets)

I guess a home draw would be handy? If we win against Somerset we will be either first or second.

That’s what I worked it out as. Quarter final here we come !

I’ve been asked whether I’m sure that Kent can’t overtake us on 15 points through run-rate. I’m not, but The run-rate gap is HUGE to turn around in one or two games

HOWEVER – it gets better

Kent’s remaining games are against Essex and Surrey

They’d have to win those two to get to 15 points

If they do that, then neither Essex nor Surrey can overtake us on 15 points!

So we’re still OK

I remember that song by the Poets. It was quite good and the title was in fact ‘Now We’re Thru’ ‘.

That’s right. I love not being the only one … Cheers!

I was sure original fixture list venue said Worcester……oh well the Rose Bowl it is then……

Thanks John. Interesting that having recalled Joe Weatherley because of injuries he gets nought!. In this week’s Cricket Paper there is a report that he was hoping to get back into the Kent side having scored three consecutive centuries and a 76, for their 2nd XI.

Have Middlesex overtaken our 2nd XI at the top of the South Group?
