Middlesex win

So with that game over and the others bonus points finished, the positions at tea on Thursday are (brackets with draw/win points added by tomorrow night)

Middlesex 143

Hampshire 140 (145/156)

Yorkshire 129 (134/145)

Somerset 127 (132/143)

It seems improbable that Somerset will win but they could. Yorkshire v Warwicks continues to look pretty even.

Somerset might have to win v Middlesex at Taunton next week. If Hampshire win tomorrow and Somerset don’t, Hampshire will be safe by virtue of one more win, even if Somerset take 24 points and Hampshire none.

Actually have play…….12 whole overs this evening….

& it might be a little selfish of me but at least after a slow day today there will still be cricket tomorrow……that’s my afternoon off sorted 😊

Interesting to note that Ryanair pilots are suffering from exhaustion same as cricketers!

Yes grand stuff, hopefully a win to finish at the Bowl.

Essex don’t trust Cook as night watchman this time round

well tonight Bet365 have us at 1/33 to win and Essex at 14/1 !!
Sorry but 14/1 looks value to me…and I’m on.
Win/win either way ;-))

I never bet on anything. Went to the Grand National once and didn’t bet a penny. But every time I went to a Hampshire Cup FInal at Lord’s I bet £5 on the opposition. I never minded losing – until 2007! Incidentally, when Hampshire lost to Essex in 1992 after enforcing the follow-on they had Essex 152-6 – effectively 1-6. But they still lost …

Only 7/4 now Essex so you have at least got a run for your money. Its going to be a very nervous afternoon I think

In 1992 Essex started day 3 at minus 46 for 4… Pringle and Garnham put on 196 for the 8th wkt, ended up setting us 160 in 31 overs.

We lost 8 for 45 in the 17 over last hour… Ilott 4-19, Childs 3-16, worryingly similiar to Porter and Harmer?

I’m hoping it’s over by early afternoon!

106 not 196!

Shades of 1992 Foster and Wagner put on 44 so far. Wagner riding his luck. Lead 138 looking a bit ominous

Comment by Paul

Lead now 184 only 69 overs today.

12-2 Essex looking every inch champions!

Comment by Paul

Make that 12-3!

Comment by Paul

Now 4 down

Paul don’t drag them down….!
We all know the frailties of the top order.

Sound like the usual utter shambles from the batsmen. Will the bowlers get them out of trouble with the bat yet again?

Comment by James

29-6 the innings in disarray

Comment by Paul

The 14/1 bet looks very generous now!
