Should they stay or should they go?

All sorts of possible reflections on what was overall a pretty ‘ordinary’ season I suppose? We know that Carberry and Smith have gone but who else do you think? It’s hard to imagine the unfortunate Ryan Stevenson will return and what about Brad Taylor? Might anyone else wish to leave? At the ageing end, will we see Sean Ervine and Jimmy Adams next year – and what about Fidel?

I’m not sure about the contractual status of 2nd XI regulars like Dickinson (3rd choice now?), Hart, Sole, Salisbury, Lintott (etc).

If there are lots of departures of capped players that will release money to sign all the promising youngsters in Southampton and Portsmouth and still leave some for transfers, Kolpaks etc. What do you think? Who might we like?

I understand that Jimmy has a teaching post from September 2018 (in the Cricketer?). and that Sean has a one year rolling deal too. I’d be surprised if they persevere with Stevenson – sadly for him, he got spotted too late then has had two years of injury. Taylor had a flying start but injuries mean that he’s been overtaken by Crane – between him and Lintott, I guess. Hope Holland gets a proper contract. Salisbury hasn’t made it. Hart’s an interesting one – visible at the beginning of the season, then has disappeared from view as far as the Firsts are concerned. Hope Dickinson and Organ get some sort of contracts

Many thanks – would you see Dickinson now as a batsman who keeps rather than a keeper who bats?

Tricky, with McManus, Alsop and Dickinson all potential wicketkeepers – and potential batsmen!
