Hampshire v Marooners (night game)

Hampshire seem to be unchanged; Marooners 37-0 in the 8th, then Berg gets an lbw: 56-1 in the 11th. Two overs later a batsman called Cassius gets a Brutus of a ball from Berg, heaves across the line, and is bowled: 63-2 (Berg 2-15); then immediately gets another lbw. Hampshire on top! Taylor three overs for just eight runs.

Now Taylor has one caught at mid-on: 68-4 at start of 17th. Good to see his bowling effective today. He gets another; 2-10 after 5 overs and 72-5.

84-5 from 20 overs. Fidel back. 100 up in 23rd and Ottley has half of them.

Now Taylor has his third wicket – 104-6, and in his final over gets a slip catch (Ervine) and has 4-25. Marooners in trouble at 113-7 in 28th.

Taylor finishes his 10 overs with 4-26, his Best Bowling in List A.

Super spinners! In no time Weatherley and Organ have wickets and it’s 119-9. This one might finish before bed-time! Meanwhile after 33 overs they have a drink break even though it’s 124-9 and the innings might finish one ball later …

Sure enough 124 all out, Weatherley 2-2. Presumably Hampshire will now bat for about 15 (+) overs although as Jo pointed out, it seems to be more a matter of time, than specific overs.

Hampshire’s record to date is P6 W1 L5. The victory was against today’s opponents (also known as CCI)

Weatherley and Alsop opening – Weatherley hits eight runs from first over but commentary and pictures keep dropping out so I’m off to do other things for a while.

Marooners won toss, are batting. Alsop with the keeper’s gloves today.

Actually I may be wrong about Alsop keeping. The commentator said he was, but the keeper has his shirt number taped over for some reason.

Unusually, Fidel’s shirt says “Fidel” rather than “Edwards”

Comment by Hedgehog

Cheers. Alsop had his taped over the other day. Interesting that he’s currently the ‘keeper.

Fidel’s Hampshire shirts all say Fidel not Edwards

Weatherley 2/2 off 2.3…….

I think the break is due at 9.30 (for us)

11/1…….Tom Alsop out for 0 from 11 😔

Thanks Jo. Things are beginning to look pretty desperate for that young man, just a year after he was playing with the Lions. It’s 59-1, with Weatherley and Adams well set, and they have indeed taken the break, after 15 overs.

Hampshire win by 9 wickets. Adams 66*. Weatherley 56*.

This morning it seems NZ are stuffing Aussies, making it harder for England to reach the Final.

Comment by Dave Allen

More time for Stokes and his mates to party then!

Comment by James

Still looks likely but I got it wrong. Aussies won with a score higher than most 60 overs matches produced in the 1960s!
