I might have added below that Somerset were of course Hampshire’s first opponents in the County Championship, at Taunton in 1895. It was the first of three occasions when Hampshire won after following-on, and here’s the team with captain, Russell Bencraft

Well Ingleby always said he wanted his players in bed before breakfast!

And the clours? It was probably the first T20 match …
