I’d grumble about the football season encroaching on the cricket season. But it starts this weekend, a fortnight before the cricketers don their whites again. How to make sense of it all?

Colin sent this nice idea:

Meanwhile Mr Vaughan has been grumbling about Rashid. I’ve no sympathy for the spinner but I’m no fan of Mr V either. He said last night:

“I think this has been a real stab in the chest to county players that are out there busting a gut, playing the formats, getting on those buses up and down the country for someone who has not been bothering to play four-day cricket.”

Buses up and down the country? Where’s he been for the last month?

It’s no fun travelling the length of the country on those trolleybuses!

There is at least some real cricket taking place at the Rose Bowl in the 2nd XI although at the moment we aren’t playing much of it being that we are 111-9
