Hampshire Cricket History

3/4 TIME

I have a slightly unusual fondness for popular songs in 3/4 (waltz) time and I rather enjoyed today’s 3/4 game in which Hampshire lost three wickets for four runs; no runs, and seven runs, while four men got ‘ducks’ – three in two balls. Then Notts lost four for four including three for Fidel (above). What an intriguing day!

Hampshire’s former players are coming on Tuesday – will there be much? Here are some of the banners for today’s RBL ‘Thank You’ project (back tomorrow)

Patel lbw Edwards, very interesting because Fidel ran towards the slips in ‘triumph’ without bothering to look round at the umpire. The plumbest of plumb?

I do like watching Fidel bowl. He puts everything into his bowling – even when practising before a match. Very frustrating at times (especially in short format cricket where even a nick off his bowling is a boundary) but such an energetic run-up and follow-through. I can’t say if he is quicker or slower than ‘Butch’, Roberts or Marshall – but I certainly wouldn’t fancy facing him (as if).
Pleased he got in the wickets.

It was very enjoyable watching Fidel bowling as midnight approached! I though Mark Footitt also bowled very quickly to Abbott and Dawson during the late afternoon.
