Who plays – and where?

Hampshire’s last Championship match (v Kent) ended a month ago yesterday, the next one starts tomorrow, and the one after that in three-and-a-half weeks. I wonder if you could recall the last XI? I wonder too what changes there will be, given, I assume, the return of James Vince and Liam Dawson. Will England still require Vince to open, since they still cannot find an opening pair (they might be halfway there).

In the first Comment, I’ll list that XI and invite you to consider who plays tomorrow. I know nothing.

Organ, Holland, Rahane, Rossouw, Donald, Berg, McManus, Barker, Abbott (c), Crane, Edwards.

It might be that with Rahane & Crane out, the changes are straightforward of course, although Berg has hardly played since then and made a ‘pair’ (he took the last two wickets for 67). And does anyone know anything about Tom Alsop?

If I’m right that Hampshire are ‘safe’ but won’t win the title and if they think that too, I wonder whether Scriven who’s been playing well in the 2nd XI might get a game.

The answer is no

A month since the last game and almost a month until the next one. I can’t ever remember being less enthusiastic about a Hampshire Championship game.

The squad is here, at the moment it shows both Vince and Abbott as captain James Vince (14) Captain, Kyle Abbott (11)

The site also suggests is a 14 man squad but I can only count 13.

Fuller and Stevenson probably the men to miss out

Thanks both. In my first thoughts I forgot that Northeast had been away too – apologies.
